Join us for a full day* workshop conducted live on Zoom. Get real-time instruction on what business income to report and what expenses to deduct, as well as how to organize your business income and expenses so they easily transfer onto your business return or schedules. We'll even go over specific examples and take "love seat" questions!
* The workshop is planned for Saturday, February 10, 2024, beginning 9am pacific time and may run as long as six hours (with breaks). If we have to change the date, we'll give you advanced notice. You'll also also get access to recordings of the complete workshop.
I'm not confident I know what income to report or what expenses I can claim -- The workshop will have live instruction time on what taxable income you must report for your small business (so you can stay out of trouble) and what expenses you're allowed to claim (so you can lower your tax bill). Learn these issues from a former government tax attorney so there's no guessing on your part.
I don't understand how to categorize things or easily transfer them to a tax return -- We'll discuss practical ways to categorize your small business income and expenses and show you exactly how to transfer them to the most common business returns and schedules. Join us to see practical examples of how a real-life tax attorney does it and you'll get a spreadsheet that makes it easy to understand!
I would love to get some useful templates and look at real-life tax returns -- You're in luck! You get spreadsheet templates to track your income and expenses just like a real life tax attorney does, and we'll go line-by-line through real tax returns so you understand how they work! We take the confusion away and make it easy!
I wish I could get cost-effective help from a real life tax attorney -- Ian Foster is an attorney who spent 18 years in government tax administration and now regularly teaches taxes for business owners. He'll run a workshop that gives real-time instruction that gives constructive and compassionate feedback. Best of all, this workshop is priced to be accessible to lots of small business owners so you can get help without breaking the bank.
I'm afraid I won't understand everything and will have so many questions! -- Don't worry! It's okay if the explanations don't click right away! That's why we'll leave plenty of time in each segment for Q&A and our instructor is patient with everyone's questions. In fact, your questions add value to the workshop for everyone else! So don't be afraid to ask!
I'D LOVE TO JOIN!I'm Ian Foster, attorney specializing in coaches, healers, and transformational leaders. As a long-time government tax attorney, I've seen first-hand what happens when people don't understand the tax system, and I believe every business owner deserves quality help that's cost-effective and doesn't take up too much of your time.
My solution to this problem is a unique one-day workshop where you can actually see specific examples that will help you report the correct income and deduct all the expenses to which you're entitled!
Most of my courses and workshops are useful for people living all over the world. However, this specific workshop is mostly useful for people who file federal income taxes in the United States, as we'll be looking at U.S. tax return examples.
This workshop is most useful for small business owners, particularly those in personal services such as coaching and healing arts.
As much as I would love to help you with your entire tax return, we simply don't have that kind of time in a one-day workshop. We'll be focusing on the forms that are most commonly used by U.S. small businesses, including:
As well as how to transfer the net numbers from your Schedule A or Form 1065 into the proper place on your personal return.
We will not be covering the rest or your personal return. Nor will we cover other, more complex, business returns.
Yes! You'll get spreadsheets that help you track income and expenses the same way I do ... which is designed to translate well onto U.S. tax returns.
We will focus on U.S. federal forms for small businesses. As each U.S. state has its own laws and returns, we simply won't have the bandwidth to review state forms. Fortunately, once your federal forms are completed properly, it's much easier to transfer the information to state forms by following their instructions.
If you already have an accountant you like and trust, that's great! This workshop will actually make you a better client for them!
Your accountant can only do so much. They work with the information you give them and make the best of the decisions you've been making all year long. Ask any tax attorney or tax accountant and they'll tell you it's much easier to help a client who understands taxes well than a client who doesn't know what they're doing.
